My fall bear hunts are also hosted out of my lodge in Swan Plain and I also offer the six day fully guided hunts in early September. Sept., which is a beautiful time of year in Saskatchewan. Farmers are on the fields harvesting their crops, leaves are starting to turn color, the weather is usually very comfortable (although sometimes not ideal 2019), you can hear and see the waterfowl making their way back south and you might even get to hear elk bugling. Because it is later in the year, the bears are bigger and the coats are usually beautiful as they are growing their winter coats. This area in general, with all the crops, berries, grass, small animals etc. is more apt to have bigger bodied bears than my north area.
This area, I am limited to taking only 9 clients a year, so I usually only have small groups at camp. Again, my lodge is centrally located so I consider this an easier or more relaxing hunt, as the baits are not terribly hard to get to. As you can see in the pictures below we do have a variety of colors of bears to hunt, but it would be just a guess to give a percentage. Daylight hours are shorter this time of year, so depending on the group, we are usually having breakfast by 8, then either lunch by 12 or a bagged lunch for the stand if we go out earlier and then again a 3 coarse meal once the days hunt is done.
